Family Owned & Local
We started HydroShield because our own water wasn't good enough.
Before HydroShield was a business, it was a problem in our own homes, spotty glasses, dry skin, a water heater that scaled up faster than it should have. We looked into fixing it ourselves, and the more we learned about what's actually coming through the pipes in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland, the more we realized most homeowners never get a straight answer about their water. Just a sales pitch.
So we built HydroShield around one rule, we test before we sell. Every system we install is sized to the home it's going into, not pulled off a shelf because it's what we happened to have. One of us runs the day-to-day of installs and service, the other handles getting to know each homeowner and their water. Together, we're a local, hands-on operation, not a call center, not a franchise.

Proudly serving Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
We know the water out here, hard and mineral heavy. Wherever you are in our service area, we size your system to match. Don't see your area listed? Give us a call — we may still be able to help.
Financing
Clean water shouldn't have to wait for a bigger budget. No pressure, no obligation to move forward.

Join a growing local team.

HydroShield is small, hands-on, and growing. As we take on more homes across Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland, we're looking for people who care about doing the job right, installers, service technicians, and folks who are good with people and want to help homeowners understand their water.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you.

Most whole-home installs are completed in a single morning, including testing the system and hauling away your old equipment.
It depends on what your softener is actually treating. A softener alone handles hardness, but it won't address chlorine, chloramines, or taste and odor issues. During your free water test, we'll tell you exactly what your current setup is and isn't covering.
No. Our systems are sized to your home's fixture count and water usage specifically so pressure stays consistent at every tap.
Whole-home systems need periodic media and filter changes, depending on usage. Our Care Plan handles the scheduling and reminders for you.
Yes. Whole-home filtration and softening treats water at the main line for your entire house. Reverse osmosis is a separate, additional system installed under the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking water, and it removes a wider range of contaminants at that one tap.
Yes — see our Financing page for details, or ask your consultant during your free water test.
See our Service Area page for the full list of cities and counties we cover.
Always. We test hardness, chlorine, and total dissolved solids (TDS) at your kitchen tap before recommending anything, and every system is sized to those results — not a one-size-fits-all box.
